Catherine Zeta-Jones is a Welsh actress. She began her career on stage at an early age. After starring in a number of United Kingdom and United States television films and small roles in films, she came to prominence with roles in Hollywood movies such as the 1998 action film The Mask of Zorro and the 1999 crime thriller film Entrapment. Her breakthrough role was in the 2000 film Traffic, for which she earned her first Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture.

Zeta-Jones subsequently starred as Velma Kelly in the 2002 film adaptation of the musical Chicago, a critical and commercial success, and received an Academy Award, BAFTA Award, aScreen Actors Guild Award and was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. Later, she appeared in the 2003 romantic comedy filmIntolerable Cruelty and 2004 crime comedy film Ocean's Twelve. Zeta-Jones landed the lead female role in the 2005 sequel of the 1998 film, The Legend of Zorro. She also starred in the 2008 biopic romantic thriller Death Defying Acts. In 2010, she won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Desiree in A Little Night Music

Norwegian highway-building lags rest of Europe

Norway, despite its vast oil wealth, has been extremely slow to improve its roads and build safer, multi-lane highways. Startling new statistics were unveiled Monday, just after another weekend of deadly head-on collisions on heavily trafficked two-lane highways.

While Sweden has 1,740 kilometers of "Class A" multi-lane highways, Norway has just 281 kilometers. Denmark, meanwhile, can boast 1,024 kilometers and Finland 700 kilometers.

Even poorer countries like Portugal have built 972 kilometers of multi-lane highways in the past six years.

Mirrors cut moose fatalities

Small mirrors hung alongside a major highway are proving highly effective at keeping wildlife off the road and preventing accidents. Moose aren't the only animals being spared.

The use of mirrors has been so successful at eliminating collisions between animals and cars, that the national railroad agency is interested in adopting the practice to keep wildlife off train tracks.
Not a single collision involving vehicles and wildlife has been recorded in the area since the mirrors were hung.

Snow stranded motorist

Civil defense troops and Red Cross workers launched efforts Thursday morning to evacuate motorists who were stranded overnight on the main highway along Norway's southern coast.













Heavy snows, high winds and bitterly cold temperatures ended up halting all traffic on the E-18.
Hundreds of cars and trucks lost control or were unable to drive because of snowdrifts or lack of visibility or both.
Some drivers were stuck in their vehicles overnight, and ran out of gas while sitting still and keeping their heaters running. Rescue crews were trying to get gasoline and food in to the drivers, while the Red Cross evacuated a busload of retirees who had been out on an excursion.

Some have been stuck in their cars up to 20 hours.
